1)       May  and June Meetings

 

 

 

 The May meeting is on 23rd May and Legal Aid and the Carter Review      with West London Council Member Lucy Scott-Moncrieff at the RAF Club.http://www.westlondonls.org.uk/page22.html

 

The Legal Charities Garden is on 14th June 2006. This is always a wonderful evening so I hope West London Solicitors and their staff will attend and support these deserving charities. A flyer to purchase tickets is up at on the Web site at http://www.westlondonls.org.uk/page29.html

 

 

The   June meeting has been moved to the 19th June. It will be  at the RAF Club and the subject is Hot Topics in Employment Law. http://www.westlondonls.org.uk/page23.html

 

 

2) Events for 2006-2007

 

Your new President Michael Nathan has worked very hard and produced a full programme for the next year which is up on the website at www.westlondonls.org.uk/page3.html.

The popular Jazz evening will be on 24th October 2006 at the offices at FSI.

 

3) Council May Council Meeting

 

I prepared a Council members report on the May Council meeting and it is up at is up on the website at http://www.westlondonls.org.uk/page28.html

 

 

4) Committee Meetings

 

The next committee meeting is on 16th May 2006 at the offices of FSI .All members of the society are welcome to attend provided they telephone Michael Nathan or his secretary in advance so that he has some idea of the numbers attending.

 

 

5) Law Society Have your say Consultation

 

This closed on 21st April 2006 . Over 18,600 replies were received and the Council considered the findings at the Council Meeting of the 10/11th May 2006.

 

6) West London Law Society Young Solicitors.

 

We are  hoping to set up a Young Solicitors Group and a flyer about this will be sent out shortly. There is now a page on the West London Law Society web site at www.westlondonlaw.co.uk/page19.html so watch this space!

 

7) 15th May 2006 London Legal sponsored Walk.

 

This is a sponsored walk in support of the London Legal Support Trust which makes grants to voluntary sector organisation in danger of closure because of withdrawal of financial support such as Enfield Law Centre, Tower Hamlets Law Centre, Terence Higgins Trust legal team, Mary Ward Legal Centre, Battersea Law Centre, Thamesmead Law Centre, Lambeth Law Centre and Toynbee Hall. It is a10 kilometers walk starting from the Law Society Hall at 5:30 pm. If you would like to take part download a sponsorship form from

www.londonlegalsupporttrust.org.uk.

 

I will be taking part so let me know if you are going to take part and lets see if we can have a West London Team.
