Michael Franks

Michael was admitted as a solicitor in 1978 and practiced as an assistant solicitor at Chethams and Brechers before returning to Chethams as a partner in 1986. Michael became a partner at William Sturges in July 2000 upon the merger of the two firms, but has since retired from practice.

Michael was a Law Society Council Member for West London from 1998 to 2002 and from 2004 to 2016. He was also a member of the Corporate Governance Board of the Law Society. He was President of West London Law Society in 1994. He was the Chairman of the Society for Computers and the Law (London Region) in 1987, and is a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Basketmakers. He served on the Appeals Panel of The Institute of the Faculty of Actuaries and was one of the Law Society’s appointed representatives on the Incorporated Council of Law Reporting.

He is a Fellow of the British Interplanetary Society and gives talks on Space Law, Astronomy and Geology.
